The tour will take you to the Mefou National Park, located at Metet village some 37km South of Yaounde where you will see apes such as chimpanzees, gorillas, and monkeys in this semi-natural primate sanctuary and also walk through the numerous nature trails. At Mbalmayo, the capital city of the Nyong and So’o division, the ‘‘cruel town’’ of the famous Cameroonian writer Mongo Beti, we shall see the old German bridge along the Nyong river and visit the rock where colonial maquis were being killed by firing squad, from where the nickname “cruel town” and lastly the National Forestry School which shelters The Mbalmayo Forest Reserve before continuation to the renown Ebogo ecotourism site.
The Ebogo Ecotourism site, an excellent village for nature goers, offers you canoe ride along the Nyong River to visit a 300 year old tree. This village can be described as a veritable relaxation haven since in the quietness of nature one can listen to the sound of birds in the horizon and admire the variety of mangrove trees swing as the wind blows. You will have to taste freshwater fish caught here and sleep in the ecolodges built in this ecotouristic village. An hour drive will permit you to reach Ebolowa described as ‘’the land of the rotten chimpanzee’’, where the former Germano-Kamerunian Captain, Martin Paul Samba was murdered. A city tour to see the place of assassination of this national hero shall do, before continuation to Nkolandom ‘’the mountain of elegance’’, a marvellous ecotourist site situated some 18km from Ebolowa along the Mekomo – Ambam highways. There, you will be able to breathe the pure air of the rainforest again, take pleasure in escaping the daily cares of life, come out of your daily routines, come out from stress and be healed from the sickness of your soul.
