The highlands of western Cameroon have a rich and diverse cultural heritage, it is also the most populated and most active region of the country, still called the granary of Cameroon. The cultures are very diverse there because the ground lends itself to it better than the dense forest: they are lightly wooded hills. Korup is the oldest and most diverse of the African rainforests. The richness of its flora and fauna is that Korup survived the Ice Age and today looks like a museum over 60 million years old. Located in the southwest region of Cameroon between the towns of Eyumojock and Mundemba, Korup National Park was created in 1986 and covers an area of 126,000 ha. The park has more than 620 species of trees and shrubs and nearly 500 species of herbs. There are also more than 400 species of birds, 82 species of reptiles and 92 species of amphibians and about 1000 species of butterflies. Mammals and fish are also numerous and represent respectively 130 and 160 species. Certain areas of the park have been designed to facilitate the visit, in particular the visit of the canopy on suspension bridges. It is also possible to make canoe trips to discover the pelicans and the fishing villages.
